Gardens

Well I've got quite a large garden to the rear of the house. I've already got one project for the end of march when the weather should be getting a bit better, I'm going to dig a biggish pond. It's going to be dug about 4/5ft down in a rectangle shape and then a smaller rectangle in the middle as bit of a fail safe if the pump ever try s to drain the pond then at least the fish have some where to go. This is the hard bit as it needs to be at least 1 1/2ft deep and pretty big allowing for fish growth. So from the grass it will go down about 4ft to a ledge which will probably be around 1ft wide then it will drop down a further foot or foot and 1/2. I'm then going to build the wall up around 3/4ft from the level of the grass. I know its going to be pretty big but its going to be bricked lined so this will take some of the water volume away.. But I figured that if im only doing this once i might as well go big.

I'm also pricing up garden rooms to go next to the pond, my thought is that I can then sit in it ans watch the fish swimming around. It should be nice and relaxing and very cosy in winter as I'm looking at putting a little and I mean tiny log burner in the garden room to heat it. I've got good access to logs and it shouldn't take much to heat it. I've got a budget of around 17k which should see me with a decent sized garden room and a few pounds left for the pond. The major expense for the pond is going to be bricks, I've got two options breeze block which are dirt cheap but will eat into the pond volume and then bricks which are slightly more expensive but will save volume.
